There is really no easy way to explain how I approached doing this part of the costume. I studied the following pic for a year before attempting to find the right combination of pieces:
After spending a lot of time in various stores, I was able to come up with a dead on replica of these parts from items found off the shelf.
Starting from left to right, I had to figure out what looked the closest to each item and work from there. The first item on the left was built on top of a rectangular box found at Radio shack called a "project box":
Unfortunately they don`t make them anymore, but I had one cast in resin, and can now make as many copies as needed. The item on top of the box best resembles a toilet tank flapper. But all of these are made in rubber and would not adhere with glue to the box. So what I did, was to measure a existing toilet tank flapper, and recreate it in styrene:
The one on the left is the actual flapper, with the middle bubble cut off. The one to the right is the re-created one cut from styrene. The round, half circle object on top of it is a top of a sipper cup found at any local Walgreens:
Then, cut a hole in the middle using any circular object and you wind up with this:
Then, overlay it on the styrene cutout of the toilet flapper, and glue it into place:
Then overlay that onto the project box and glue and you wind up with this:
Once the piece is painted, the first of the Jodo Kast belt accessories is done.
The second belt accessory is relatively easy to do as well. I went to the Container store (www.thecontainerstore.com) and bought a 4x4 plastic box:
Once I had the box, I cut a simple 4x4 template to go over the box, and glued it to the box:
the painted it, painted the rest of the box, and the painted the 3 lines in the middle black to give it depth.
This is what the final piece looks like after the paint job and the seperate pieces getting attached to a thick piece of styrene:
And finally adding the belt loops:
And now your complete first set of Kast belt accessories is done.
Now the second accessory pack is a little different, but still quite easily made using found parts. Starting with the small "square" on top of the second accessory. After blowing up the image as best I could, I noticed it was a black rectangle with smaller black squares inside. So, off to Radio shack I went and found what I was looking for. The main body piece is half of a mini project box:
Take it out of the box, and the half you want to work with is the half with the "screw nub" in the center:
Clip the nub out of the center of the half box, sand it down so it looks like this:
Once you have it sanded down, what I did was to apply a coat of flat black paint to the inside to cover up the sanding marks. Next, the three pieces that will go inside of the small half project box. Two of which can be bought at Radio Shack also. The first piece is a blue computer PC relay item number #275-0248:
The second piece is a PC relay also, item number #275-0240:
This is what they look like out of the packaging:
Once you have them loose, the next step is to take a pair of pliers, clip the connector prongs on the bottom of the relays, and then paint the blue relay black:
The third piece I used in my original design was also a piece I found at Radio Shack, it was called a 34 Position Computer Connector:
But seeing it is now a discontinued item that no longer can be found, I have upgraded to a more accurate piece, it is now a simple piece of rectangle styrene found at any local Hobby store:
Now, the pieces are painted, inserted into the half of the project box, and glued in. You now have another Jodo Kast Belt Accessory finished:
The 4th Accessory is a really easy one to identify and to find pieces for. It consists of 4 seperate pieces: A lid from a peanuts jar, A half version of the project box (previously used), and A/C Delco oil filter and the top of a sipper cup. (previously used)
